The best pet store around here! Their fish tanks are clean & not overcrowded. Their reptiles aren’t kept in tiny enclosures in multiples. The baby birds are handled so they’re easier to adopt out & adapt to their new home. Their bird boarding is a huge relief when I go out of town! Affordable, accommodating, & I know Beakman is in good hands. When I left her for a few days, she seemed so happy! She got to make little birdie friends in the cages next to her. Overall the staff know what they’re doing, the prices are better than most places, and the husbandry is 100% better than most pet stores. Love this place!!

This is my absolute favorite pet store. They board birds,so it's always fun to see different kinds of birds. They have beautiful reptiles, fresh and salt water fish, and amazing coral. Not to mention the adorable lil birds and fur balls you see as you walk in the door. The staff has always been able to ask any questions I may have, even if they had to ask around. ☺️🐇🐹🐁🦜🐌🐟🐠🐡🪸🕷️🦂🦎🐍🐢

I had and urgent grooming matter with my bird and Casey's soul shines bright as a true lover of animals. She was patient, kind and non judgemental of me being a little frazzled. I will return. I am awful at remembering names. But I think I remember her name because she shines.

I really can not say enough wonderful things about this business! I live in Bradenton, so I drive out of my way every weekend to come here for pet food and supplies for all my pets. My daughter loves to come with me every weekend and we pet the bunnies and talk to the birds, and we especially love the reptile room!

They take exceptional care of their animals and we have bought two pets from them. We visit weekly mostly to pick up feeder rats for our snakes and supplies for our cats. The staff is very friendly and ALWAYS willing to help us find the best products and educate us on our pet's care. Every single staff member here is wonderful! I feel welcomed every time I enter the store and we actually look forward to our Saturday visits as part of our weekly routine. They can even special order products that they may not have in their current inventorty and call when it's in!

Their prices are a tad higher than most commercial pets stores but that is to be expected from a small business who doesnt have the ability to buy at bulk like major corporations do. I would HAPPILY pay a teeny bit more to help support a local family business who takes exceptional care of their customers and community than give to a major corporation just to save a few bucks.

If you're looking for a local pet store I highly recommend The Family Pet Center, and all of their amazing staff.

As far as fish stuff goes, this place leaves A LOT to be desired...! You're better at a big box pet store than here...! I did buy something, can't remember what though... Fish are an "oh yeah" product and dry goods were very sparse... It's too bad that newbies to the fish keeping hobby may be fooled that this is the standard for fish...! Much improvement needed in that department, so for fish(live stock) go to Wet Pets for quality or a big box store selection & quantity...! Thanks, I'll check back in in a few weeks/months and hope for some improvement...!

Best pet store in the SRQ area hands down. Super knowledgeable staff. They care about the animals in their shop and are a trustworthy place to board all types of small caged pets. An absolute gem. Visit this place and support a worthy locally owned business!

This is the coolest pet store I've seen in Sarasota hands down. They have all kinds of cute fuzzy critters, plenty of cold blooded beauties, and a plethora of winged chatterboxes. They even have tarantulas!! The staff all genuinely seem to love working there. They don't mind if you come in to browse, but if you can buy something they are a local small business.

I have bought a lot of animals from this place and I spent a ton of money here. I bought a sugar glider less than a month ago. I was not aware that he was older and rehomed. I was told that he did not bite. This sugar glider is very aggressive and he makes me bleed all the time. I know they are social, I went and bought another one today and the older one is being very mean. I asked if I could trade him in for a younger one since I was mislead, and they said no. I as so disappointed in this place. You have definitely lost my business!!!
